Magic bars & VegNews magazine

29 Aug

I’m counting down the days until I go back to school and my “school life” back in Denver… only 2 more days left here in Phoenix! It might sound like I’m excited, and I am, a little, but I’m also pretty sad I have to head back so soon. I had a great summer, and I did a lot of stuff (some good, some bad).

Here’s a rundown: Continue reading

Hurricane Irene and breakfast

27 Aug

This weekend I’m visiting my parents down in Tucson, so today I woke up to some delicious coffee, courtesy of Mom. I LOVE my Mom’s coffee!! She typically uses this coffee from a local restaurant in Tucson, the Blue Willow, and she always has delicious creamer. Seriously, no one can beat the way my Mom makes coffee!

I made myself some toast and then added the hardboiled eggs Dad made for us, so I had a pretty healthy breakfast.

Yes, my coffee is Continue reading

Scary book review & First Watch

26 Aug

So yesterday, I had all the intention in the world to update the blog. However, I got completely sidetracked by a book my work-study boss recommended to me for summer ‘fun reading.’ Let me tell you, this book was disturbing as all get out! The book is called The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, and it’s basically about an outbreak of the Ebola and Marburg viruses in the 1960s-1990s. The outbreaks took place in Germany, Africa, and Washington, D.C., and the book is based on a completely true story, which is the most disturbing thing of all.

Don't read this book at night

VegNews chat & Horchata!

24 Aug

Tonight I participated in the VegNews chat (hashtag: #vegnewschat) on Twitter, and it was AMAZING! It was designed to ask serious (i.e. professional) bloggers how they got started, what blogs they read, what they would recommend for new bloggers, etc. It also allowed us new bloggers to ask questions to the pros and get their feedback on certain things. I have to say, I really benefited from the info on what camera to use (apparently my iPhone isn’t cutting it… sorry guys!), what type of blogger feeds everyone uses to catch up on all the blogs they follow, and advice for ad revenue. Not that I’m looking to put any ads on this blog, but maybe eventually it would be cool too.

Someone also mentioned how the future of blogging, especially food blogs, might turn into something like HuffPo. Continue reading

Back in Phoenix and it feels so good

21 Aug

Hey everyone! This week I’m in Phoenix, having spent last week with my parents and grandparents. This week it’s ‘friends-and-boyfriend’ week (notice boyfriend is not plural… haha). I’ve only been here for two days, and I’ve already seen basically everyone on my list. Now what?? Blog time! Yay! Continue reading

MsCareerGirl chat

18 Aug

This post will be short today, as I’ve got a lot going on, but to update on yesterday…

Yesterday was so much fun! It was my second day of the week to relax and hang out with my grandma and cousin. The day before, we had an exhausting day of shopping. Although shopping is always fun, when it’s so hot like it is here, it can definitely drain you quickly! Luckily, yesterday the three of us went to the pool for two hours and got some serious floating and tanning in. Don’t worry, this time I loaded up on sunscreen so I didn’t even get burned. Hooray! Back! Re-cap of the last week.

17 Aug

Whew! So I know I said I would be able to post more last week… well, schoolwork and packing up my place sort of overwhelmed me, and as you can see, the blog suffered for it. But I’m back now, and I’m on vacation, so I am completely relaxed and psyched to get back into the blog!

My last week in Denver was incredibly busy, packing and finishing up my papers, but I did manage to have some fun AND work on getting myself out there for future jobs. Continue reading

TGIF!!

5 Aug

I’m back! Sorry for the delay in posts. As I mentioned in my last post, the boyfriend was in town visiting… which actually isn’t the reason I didn’t post. I know, I blame other things on him, why not the lack of posts? ;) Continue reading
