Vegan shoes!

11 Jan

We briefly interrupt this series with an important announcement: SHOES! OMG SHOES! (Funny video but don’t click if you’re at work!)

So I mentioned in my first post about the VegNews ’31 Changes in 31 Days’ that I wasn’t going to do anything different regarding my shoes/clothes. Leather shoes are obviously not vegan, but unfortunately, some of the shoes I have have either leather insoles or have suede. I mistakenly thought that vegan shoes were weird, or not comfy, or, most importantly, really expensive. However, upon a little investigation, I found a ton of great and not very expensive shoes! Without further ado…

Sneakers! I love sneakers with such a passion, this had to be the first thing I looked up. And look! On sale for $19.99… sweet! From Veganchic.com.

From Alternative Outfitters, these boots would be lovely for the winter here in Denver (or anywhere cold, I imagine):

For the heel enthusiats (of which I’m not one, but I do love me some wedges!), cute wedges from Madden Girl:

I also love these Black Bow Tie Peep wedges, also from Alternative Outfitters:

Finally, these purple faux silk ballerina flats, also from Alternative Outfitters– so cute! Wish there wasn’t snow on the ground… otherwise I’d get them and wear them everywhere!

Other cool sites that have vegan shoes include: Moo Shoes (although I found them to be really expensive :-/), and Zappos vegan section of shoes.

Question for you all: What do you think of these shoes (yay, nay, blah)? Would you consider purchasing vegan shoes, or do you prefer thrift shopping/buying used? Do you know of any other vegan retailers that sell shoes?

Shopping with Guys

31 Dec

So today we took a break from working out and drinking green drank: we instead splurged on a big breakfast. We had: whole wheat waffles with blueberries and syrup, egg, potato, spinach and tomato burritos, and juice & milk. Okay, so it seemed like a lot when we were eating it… :)

Yum… this was the only photographic evidence we had after we devoured the egg burritos! Oh waffles, how I love you…

I felt guilty for having such a huge breakfast without going to the gym, but then Blake and I decided to go to the mall to get the last piece of his Christmas present from me: jeans that fit!

We went to the Gap first, but their jeans were $59.50!! Say WHAT?! When did the Gap get so expensive? After that, we stumbled into a couple random “skater” stores, whose jeans were expensive and made Blake look like a hobo. We finally went to JC Penney’s, and what a life saver that turned out to be! By the time we got to Penney’s, I was absolutely exhausted from Blake, who was being extra picky. Every pair of jeans I picked out for him, he either complained about the color or the fit. So finally in Penney’s, he picked out his own pants, and lo and behold, he liked every single pair!

We finally narrowed it down to two pairs of dark wash jeans by Lee’s for him, and the total came to $54.95. TWO pairs of jeans for the same price as ONE pair from the Gap. We scored! Yeah, I would have preferred to go to Ross or Marshall’s and get him cheaper pants (but just as high quality), but we had actually gone to those stores (and more!) before, and his size was totally picked over. Apparently, the holidays are a time when men in Blake’s size go shopping… who knew!

Tomorrow, we’re going hiking… yes, I’m crossing my fingers I’m not too hungover, haha. Oh well, that’s what sleeping in is for! Luckily the weather in Phoenix is so nice, it doesn’t matter what time we go during the day.

I’m leaving you this New Year’s Eve with two things: 1) A lovely video by Harry Connick Jr. ‘What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?’ and 2) the link for AAA– they will drive you home if you get too crunk this NYE! Take advantage of the service if it’s in your area. There’s absolutely no need to get drunk and drive– if not for your sake or your families, please think of others who will be driving home tonight and deserve to live through the night. If you see someone who is too drunk and should be trying to drive, call this number too. Click here to learn more about the ‘Tipsy Tow’.

Be safe everyone!
